2018 Anti-Cancer Challenge

Lynn Capouya Inc.

A message from Lynn Capouya, President of Lynn Capouya, Inc.

Over the last 12 years, my husband, Skip Kuhn, and I have greatly benefitted from UC Irvine Health and its Medical Center staff and services.

As a breast cancer survivor, UCI-Pacific Breast Care has provided ongoing support and care to me as they continue to research and develop new approaches and technologies to cure breast cancer. I thrive!

In 2009, Skip was first diagnosed with colorectal cancer. While he has had procedures at both Hoag and UCI over the last nine years, his UCI oncologist, Dr. Andrea Nanci, provided treatment while advocating for Skip to enter clinical trials with USC and the Los Angeles Clinic as well as other opportunities to find a cure. When faced with elevated bilirubin (liver enzymes – who knew?) counts, radiation therapy was explored and Dr. Rick Van Etten recommended Skip to UCSD/California Proton Center for a specialized radiation pencil laser treatment.

Due to UCI’s consistent and diligent efforts, Skip’s life was extended by almost five years beyond the clinical expectancy! Forever grateful, both Skip and I have supported Dr. Michael Stamos and the expanding UCI School of Medicine and the NIH-designated the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. In Skip’s honor, I will continue to support and advocate UCI’s efforts.

And in Skip’s memory, I would like to encourage you to donate, volunteer or participate in the upcoming UCI Anti-Cancer Challenge on Saturday, May 19, 2018. 100% of every dollar raised will go directly to lifesaving cancer research at the UCI Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center.
