On September 15, 2023 my life was forever changed with the diagnosis of Stage 4 rectal cancer. I have spent every moment of my life since then fighting. I started chemotherapy in October 2023 and had radiation in March 2024. Then on April 5, 2024 I endured a 10 hour surgery that successfully removed my reproductive organs, a 10 centimeter 8 pound cyst, repaired a hernia, removed an 8 centimeter 6 pound tumor, removed my entire rectum, removed 25 centimeters of my colon, lowered my stoma (colostomy bag) and removed several pounds of tissue lining the skin of my abdomen. My surgeons were able to remove all visible signs of cancer. I started chemo again on 7/18/24 and will continue to be on some chemo regimen for the rest of my life. That has been my journey so far.

I not only walk for myself, but I walk in the memory of my beloved sister warrior Myra who lost her life 7/1/24 to this horrendous disease. She was the bravest person I know and I miss her tremendously.
