We are a group of individuals who have joined the UCI Anti-Cancer Challenge because we believe in a cancer-free world. We are participating in the Challenge to raise funds and awareness for critical cancer research! Challenge day is Saturday, October 7th, 2023 at the UCI Campus in Irvine, CA.
Cancer affects us all and we want to do what we can to support research that has the potential to save lives and improve the quality of life for all those who have been affected.
You can help us support this important cause by donating today. Every dollar raised goes directly to pilot projects and early phase clinical trials that aim to develop new insights into cancer prevention, treatment and cures — to save lives.
In February 2022, Neusha was diagnosed with Stage IV Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma (aka Bile Duct Cancer). This cancer is incredibly rare, with less than 10,000 people diagnosed in the United States per year. For comparison, one of the most common cancers in the US is Breast Cancer, with just under 300,000 people diagnosed per year. Because of the rarity, the amount of research and treatment options is vastly limited, and there is currently no cure for this disease. Even if Neusha is able to reduce or eliminate her tumors, she will still be on some form of maintenance treatment for the rest of her life.
Last year for the 2022 Anti-Cancer Challenge in October, we pledged to raise money for cancer research for the UCI Health Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. Every single dollar fundraised from the participants of this this challenge goes towards cancer research, and what better place to go to than the place where Neusha gets her life saving treatment. The Chao Cancer Center is near and dear to her heart, and not only did she begin my chemotherapy treatment here, but she is now in a clinical trial that has undergone research at the very facility. This fundraiser opens the doors to new opportunities in cancer research and education. The money that you help raise directly benefits people like Neusha, and for that, we cannot express our gratitude enough.
TeamNeush was the LARGEST TEAM to grace the Anti-Cancer Challenge not only last year, but since its inception seven years ago (so we’ve been told!). How amazing is it that so many people rallied with us to bring awareness and raise funds for cancer research?! Can we do it again this year? Will you join us in bringing in an even bigger team and increase the money raised?! Your support, big or small, virtual or in-person, means so much to Neusha personally, but also to the people like her that are still in this fight.
Together, let's make a real impact in the fight against cancer and CRUSH IT.
