As the Director of UCI's Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, I launched the UCI Anti-Cancer Challenge eight years ago because I believe that together, we can create a cancer-free world.
Our recent progress in the fight against cancer has been remarkable. We are now curing cancers that were once a death sentence. And we have turned others into chronic conditions whose medical management resembles diabetes or high blood pressure rather than cancer.
But this progress depends on fundamental research on the causes, detection, prevention, and treatment of cancer, including cancer survivorship, that takes place at National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers like ours. As Director, I have an urgent need for resources to support the most innovative, paradigm-shifting research of our cancer scientists and clinicians.
That's where the Anti-Cancer Challenge comes in. 100% of funds raised by participants goes directly to life-saving cancer research at the UCI Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and our pediatric cancer partner, CHOC Children's Hospital. Every gift - no matter the size - makes an impact on the cancer fight.
Please join me in the fight against cancer in one of two ways:
1. Make a fast, easy, and safe tax-deductible donation to help me meet my fundraising goal.
2. Join my Chao Cancer Center Director's team to ride, run, walk, volunteer and celebrate on Challenge Day. Together, we stop at nothing to end cancer.
Are you ready to rise to the challenge and put cancer behind us? Join me!
