On October 10th, our friends and family are lacing up, clipping in, and hitting the pavement for someone I love more than anything: Nathan Evans, husband, dad, and all-around amazing human, who was recently diagnosed with stage 3 metastatic testicular cancer.
Nate is facing this the way he faces everything: with strength, humor, and the people he loves by his side. (Yes, he approved the team name even though the boys wanted to go with "Team Uni-Baller.")
Nate is a patient at UCI Health, and his treatment and care so far have been incredible. The doctors, nurses, and staff have treated him with such skill and compassion, and raising money for the very place that is caring for him makes this challenge even more meaningful.
For our family, this fight is personal in more ways than one. I'm a breast cancer survivor, and I know firsthand what a diagnosis feels like and how much the research, the doctors, and the community around you matter. Nate stood beside me through my cancer journey and many many surgeries over the last two decades. Now it's my turn to stand beside him, and I'd love for you to stand with us together.
Our team is coming together during the 10-year anniversary of the UC Irvine Anti-Cancer Challenge to support patients, survivors, families, and researchers. By joining or supporting our team, you're helping fund critical cancer research at the UCI Health Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and CHOC, part of Rady Children's Health.
As a team member, your personal fundraising will contribute to our team's overall goal, amplifying our impact. The more each of us raises on our own pages, the more our team can do together.
How you can help: Join Nuts for Nate to ride, run, or walk with us on event day, and ask your friends and family to support your fundraiser. If you're not able to participate, please consider donating to our team. Every action and every dollar counts in the fight against cancer.
Let's show Nate, and everyone fighting this disease, just how nuts we are about them. đź’™
