The UCI Anti-Cancer Challenge is a community movement to raise awareness and funds for critical cancer research at the UCI Health Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Every participant-raised dollar directly funds pilot studies and early phase clinical trials that aim to develop new insights into cancer prevention, treatment and cures — to save lives.

A heartfelt thank you for being a part of the 2024 UCI Anti-Cancer Challenge community!

Your incredible support has helped raise $1.5 million (and counting!) for groundbreaking pilot projects and early phase clinical trials aimed at cancer prevention, treatment and cures.
Every dollar you raise supports innovative research at the UCI Health Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and its pediatric cancer affiliate, Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC).

We are truly grateful for your dedication to the fight against cancer.

Making a Difference

The fight against cancer begins with fundamental research on its causes, detection, prevention and treatment at National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer centers like the UCI Health Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Your support through the UCI Anti-Cancer Challenge directly funds cancer-related projects, enabling UC Irvine physician-scientists to generate crucial preliminary data for high-impact research. In partnership with the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), a portion of the funds is also dedicated to pediatric cancer research.

Meet 2024 Patient Honoree - Megan Yoo Schneider

Grateful to call herself a survivor of ovarian cancer, Megan Yoo Schneider is on a mission to raise awareness and funding for critical cancer research by participating in the UCI Anti-Cancer Challenge.

In early 2024, Daniel Keenan received devastating news: he was diagnosed with Stage 3 locally advanced pancreatic carcinoma. Despite his own battle, Keenan was determined to make a meaningful impact through the UCI Anti-Cancer Challenge for others affected by cancer in Orange County and beyond. Today, he leads Team Keenan, rallying over 90 members and raising more than $115,000 for cancer research.

"Almost everyone has been touched by cancer, whether personally or through a loved one," he remarks. "The only way to find cures is through research, and research costs money. My friends and family thank me for participating in the UCI Anti-Cancer Challenge because it gives them an opportunity to contribute to such an important cause."
