Volunteers are essential to the success of Challenge Day! Below, you'll find all available volunteer opportunities.

For those volunteering as a group, rest stop positions are a perfect choice. Teams can make the area their own by decorating and bringing cheering materials to create an energetic spot to cheer on riders.

Early Packet Pickup Prep - UC Irvine Campus
Date: Tuesday, Oct. 6

Shift Time:

1 - 3 p.m.

Description:
Team packet pickup prep.


Early Packet Pickup - UC Irvine Campus
Date Options:
Wednesday, Oct. 7
Thursday, Oct. 8
Friday, Oct. 9

Shift Time:

2 - 7 p.m.

Description:
Check in participants. Distribute packets.


Event Set Up - UC Irvine Campus
Date: Friday, Oct. 9

Shift Time:

1 - 5 p.m.

Description:
Assemble and place signage around festival and entrances.
Set up lines/stanchions at check in tents, start/finish line and food areas.



Packet Pickup - UC Irvine Campus
Date: Saturday, Oct. 10

Shift Time:

5:30 - 8 a.m.

Description:
Check in participants. Distribute packets.


Start/Finish Line - UC Irvine Campus
Date: Saturday, Oct. 10

Shift Time:

5:30 - 9 a.m.

Description:
Cheer on teams as they start their activity.


Festival Support - UC Irvine Campus
Date: Saturday, Oct. 10

5:30 - 9:30 a.m.
6 - 9 a.m.
8 - 10 a.m.
9 a.m. - Noon
10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Noon - 3 p.m.


Description:
Support at various areas of the event day festival.


Photography Support - UC Irvine Campus
Date: Saturday, Oct. 10

Shift Time(s):

8 - 10 a.m.
10 a.m. - Noon


Description:
Roam the event and capture candid moments, team highlights and crowd energy throughout the day. No equipment provided. Volunteers are encouraged to use their personal smartphone to capture content. If you own a DSLR, mirrorless or any personal camera, you are more than welcome to bring it along. Please ensure your device is fully charged and has sufficient storage space available before arriving.


60-mile and 100-mile Finish Line - UC Irvine Campus
Date: Saturday, Oct. 10

Available Shift Time:

2 - 5 p.m.

Description:
Cheer on riders as they return from their routes.


Route Guides - UC Irvine Campus
Date: Saturday, Oct. 10

Available Shift Time:
8:30 - 11 a.m.

Description:
Stand along the route to cheer and direct participants.

Rest Stop #2 - Laguna Beach Stop 2 (7:30 - 10:45 a.m.)

Rest Stop #3 - Laguna Niguel (8:30 - 11:15 a.m.)

Rest Stop #4 - Mission Viejo (8 - 11:30 a.m.)

Rest Stop #5 - Trabuco Canyon
 (9 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.)

Rest Stop #6 - Orange (9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.)

Rest Stop #7 - Irvine Stop 1 (10:15 a.m. - 4 p.m.)

Rest Stop #8 - Irvine Stop 2 (9:45 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.)


Rest Stop #9 - Newport Beach (8:30 - 11:15 a.m.)

Description:
Set up the rest stop, manage supplies, cheer on cyclists.
