As most of you know, I've been fundraising for several Breast Cancer charities for over 10 years of which I've raised over $40,000 to support Breast Cancer programs and treatment. We're always asked what our “why” is, why or what motivates us to participate and raise money for Breast Cancer? I've had too many in my life affected by this disease and other cancers that impact our families and friends. The list goes on. Some have fought the fight and won…others haven't been so fortunate and have been taken by this disease. I want to help change this.
But in 2020 I was faced with my own Breast Cancer diagnosis. Hearing the words “you have cancer” are devastating. I am blessed to be on the other side of cancer and while I'm the same person, my experience changed me in a way I didn't expect. My Breast Cancer journey caused me to reevaluate my life with a full understanding of how precious it is and never take it for granted.
Many of you have been loyal supporters since I began my mission to help the battle to end Breast Cancer since 2015. I'm so grateful! And while my passion is for Breast Cancer awareness, I like that the UCI Anti-Cancer Challenge event supports ALL cancers, of which I've had several close friends and family affected this past year.
I've stepped up my training and will continue strengthening and conditioning my body to prepare to cycle on October 11.
