In late 2024, my family’s world changed forever. My sister, Autumn, was diagnosed with brain cancer caused by a high-grade Glioma tumor. Autumn isn’t just my sister; she’s the most caring, selfless, and loving person you could ever meet. She’s the type of person who will make sure you are taken care of, even if it means putting herself last.

Since her diagnosis, Autumn has faced treatment after treatment with incredible courage. It’s hard to put into words what it’s like watching someone you love fight a battle like this. There have been tough days, there have been tears, but there has also been an unshakable strength that has inspired everyone around her. Our family was devastated when we first found out, but this journey has also brought us closer, reminding us how powerful love and family can be.

Recently, Autumn’s care was referred to UCI. In honor of her fight, I’ve decided to run the UCI Anti-Cancer Challenge 5K not just to cross a finish line, but to help raise money for life-saving research and treatments that can make a difference for patients like Autumn.
